Pictures of buildings mentioned in the “Suffolk” volume of “The Buildings of England” series by Sir Nikolaus Pevsner.


Apart from the Church the second edition (p281) has two entries, one for The Thatchers and another for council housing.  For The Thatchers Pevsner concentrates mainly on internal features and says: “C15, with remains of a kingpost roof and wall painting above a fireplace.  4ft medallion with the lamb and flag.  Three arched niches between the fireplace and the paintings.”

Altlhough not fully covered here, the third edition (James Bettley’s Suffolk West) gives it its current name of Thatchers Hall and adds the description “Wealden House with exposed close-studding”.  It also adds “the former Congregational Chapel, now a house. 1846.  Red brick.  Three bays and two storeys, with broad pilasters between the bays”  as well as others.  Seen here:
