Pictures of buildings mentioned in the “Suffolk” volume of “The Buildings of England” series by Sir Nikolaus Pevsner.  Tudor Georgian

The section in the book on Lavenham, starting on p325, says “there is nothing in Suffolk to compete with the timber-framed houses of Lavenham” but in the introduction, on page 40, it more properly places it in a wider context.  In that it says “for houses in towns and villages there is nothing in England to beat Lavenham in numbers and variety”.  I rather doubt that the other countries in the UK could beat it either.  I have visited many World Heritage sites around the world and Lavenham surely ranks with many of them.

Many of the buildings can be visited such as the Guildhall, the Swan Hotel, the Angel Hotel, the Little Hall and the Great House.
