After the church Pevsner describes the Red Lion Inn: "Timber-framed. Below the oversailing gable an oriel window of the type of Sparrowe's House, Ipswich. To the r., startlingly, a Red Lion, which is the figurehead of a Dutch boat captured at the battle of Sole Bay in 1672".
