Pictures of buildings mentioned in the second edition “Suffolk” volume of “The Buildings of England” series by Sir Nikolaus Pevsner.
Early industrial buildings at Snape Maltings turned into an arts centre (famous concert hall), shops, cafes, a pub and apartments. Some conversions still underway. A popular destination and a good place to park for walks as well - especially to Iken where the remote Church is worth a visit with classic East Anglian landscapes and riverscapes on the way.
Pevsner (p420/421 in 2nd edition) relates the stages from "uncommonly unimpressive group of early industrial buildings" to the conversion to a Concert Hall in 1966/7, its fire and then restoration in 1969/70. The edition pre-dated the subsequent conversions of the surrounding buildings.
